He was born on June 22, 1957, in Zaporozhye.
He began writing songs to his own lyrics in 1973, as well as in collaboration with Alexey Ivashchenko, with whom he performed as the duo "Ivasi" since 1975.
In 1998, in collaboration with Ivashchenko, he composed the music and wrote the libretto for the musical "Nord-Ost." After completing work on "Nord-Ost," he ceased his concert activities and became a producer.
He served as a co-producer for the animated series "Gora Samotsvetov" (Folk Tales of Russia), producer of the animation project "Multi-Russia" (short animated films about regions and cities of Russia), and producer of the animated series "Fixiki."
